Studio apartments offer the obvious challenge of making one space function as several. In slightly larger apartments, the living room often works overtime as an office area, dining room, and entryway. And even in a house, when you've got multiple residents, designated space can be hard to come by. Take a look at these tours for great ideas for multipurpose rooms that work.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Rather than a re-post of house tours, I would have found it more helpful had you grouped it by type of room: multifunctional office/bedroom, entryway/living room, living/dining combos. The house tours are fun, but I just don't know where to look to find inspiration for my current space issues.
Thanks, it's a good start, but there should be some more in-depth discussion of how to best plan space for multi-use, including use of complementary colors, patterns and styles... strategies for opening up the space, arranging furniture to create flow and "zones"...etc.
As SCOOT and BEE T, indicated, these are post from recent house tours and it's tough to see exactly how the rooms are situated. I do like them all except the 'shoe wall art'. Not for me.
I know Oniela's shoe wall isn't for everyone, but I loved it so much that I put it up in my studio in birch to contrast all the dark wood paneling). I added a third shelf and arranged 28 prs of shoes according to the scientific color spectrum-ROYGBIV-my standard for organizing clothes, w/neutrals on the long middle shelf. I'm known for my shoes, have a huge collection and minimal space, so it makes the perfect functional work of art!
#1 was just so peaceful and pulled together, sigh of total envy....
#2 is still one of my favorite AT pictures of all time!
