Most showers are not fancy. They get the job done. They have a spout that water comes out of, a drain at the bottom and some sort of enclosure to keep water from getting all over the place. These are not those showers.

If you're a fan of the long, leisurely shower (guilty), or if you love designs that are beautiful and a little over-the-top, you're going to love these luxurious spaces. They are less utilitarian, and more like tiny temples to the art of getting clean.

Above: Here's a shower from Lonny that somehow feels lofty and cozy all at once — the perfect place to get clean, or just stand (or sit) for a little while contemplating the mysteries of the universe.

The pink tile, marble accents, and gold fixtures of this shower make it feel like something a grown-up, design-savvy Barbie might have in her home. The whole bathroom is more than worth checking out.

Did you know that there is wallpaper that you can put in wet locations? There is, and this lovely shower from Wall & Deco is proof.

This shower, in a bathroom from Atlanta Homes, is more than big enough for two. This grand marble-clad space is outfitted with a bench, shower niches, and a truly staggering array of knobs and nozzles.

This marble-clad shower/bath combination, spotted in a Moroccan home from Vogue, might be the most luxurious shower/bath combination I've ever seen.

The skylight gives this shower from Canny a nice glow, almost as if you are showering outside (but without any of the attendant privacy concerns).

Glossy black subway tile gives this shower from Cote Maison a dark glamour — and the patterned floor tile adds a bit of old-world charm.

A soaring space from Arch Daily. The pebbles at the perimeter contribute to the spa-like vibe. And is that a skylight above, letting in glorious rays?

I'm not sure you can really call a shower something that's just a stream of water flowing from the ceiling, but this 'shower' from Marie Claire Maison is certainly luxurious.
