Name: Will, Rebekah, & Liam Hasting
Location: Paris, France
Size: 1,400 square feet; 3 bedrooms
Years lived in: 8 Months

In Paris’ 14th arrondissement, not far from the Place Denfert-Rochereau, is a little family home with a lovely view. In the short time that they’ve lived here, Will and Rebekah have filled their apartment with a mix of antiques and more contemporary pieces that feels just right — a complement to the space’s classic architecture, with just enough of a modern touch to keep things fresh.

Of this apartment’s many lovely features, the loveliest — and most prominent — might be the huge French windows. Each one opens up onto a little balcony and a view of Paris, making this beautiful apartment feel like an extension of this most beautiful of cities.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Classic with a little mix of old world & modern.

Inspiration: Paris! I wanted to design a space that had an old world, elegant feel with a little modern flair. The apartment itself is spectacular with such ornate architecture, beautiful French doors, and parquet floors. The goal was to enhance the beauty of the apartment by keeping the décor in line with the elegant and romantic essence of the apartment.

Favorite Element: The windows and iron railings. The windows in every room open up completely to a small walk out. They are absolutely beautiful!

Biggest Challenge: Not having a patio or deck. Our last home had a large rooftop deck that we used often. I miss that!

What Friends Say: Friends have told us our apartment is a warm and inviting place — just what we were going for.

Biggest Embarrassment: Having an all white kitchen and mustard yellow bathroom. We haven’t gotten around to painting yet!

(Editor’s note: the bathroom is not pictured, but we can assure you that it is very, very yellow.)

Proudest DIY: We have four chairs in our apartment that have been recovered by my husband. It’s very time consuming, but the results are always worth it.

Biggest Indulgence: The leather sofa in our living room. We sat on it for two seconds and knew we had to have it. It is much deeper than an average couch — its sole purpose is lounging.

Best Advice: Don’t be afraid to take a little risk when it comes to design. Get out of your comfort zone. Every time I have done so, I am pleased with the result! Also, find a friend to decorate with. It’s helpful to have a second opinion and it makes the process a lot more fun!

Dream Sources: Paris flea markets. I’m living my decorating dream right now! Anything and everything you can imagine can be found at a Paris flea market.
