Nestled in the winding hills of Hollywood, this mid-century modern post and beam home was recently snatched up by two art-lovers and transformed into a striking minimalist masterpiece. Natural sunlight flooding in through large, unobstructed windows and skylights reflects brilliantly off the white walls, white cement flooring, and blonde wood furniture inside. Needless to say, this place is seriously dreamy.

The overall vibe of the home is peaceful and organic, with simple decor and an abundance of desert plant life inside and out. The multitude of art brings warmth and balance to what could be an otherwise stark color palette, and a mixture of natural elements adds a variety of texture. A harmonious home, indeed.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: minimal, clean, bright but also warm and lived in with our eclectic collection of art, objects, books, and records

Inspiration: Notes from A Piece Apart (my favorite blog and one of my favorite clothing lines), Scandinavian and Japanese design

Favorite Elements: the open floor plan, all the skylights, the dining room, the white concrete

Biggest Challenge: keeping the white concrete floors clean, finding enough wall space for our extensive art collection

What Friends Say: They love the endless cosy places to sit and have a conversation.

Biggest Embarrassment: We decided that our dream of white terrazzo floors was not in our budget so we opted for white concrete instead. When they showed us the sample, the concrete appeared to be grey-white which we were happy with. When they actually poured the concrete it came out

much whiter than the sample (a stark sour cream white) and there was no turning back. I had a minor freakout but it ended up looking beautiful, despite how time-consuming it can be to keep clean.

Proudest DIY: My husband designing and building the dining room table- the more minimal the design, the more complicated it is to perfect it.

Biggest Indulgence: Our massive multicolored Brazilian cowhide that matches our puppy. She’s totally camouflaged when she sits on it.

Best Advice: It takes time and patience for a house to feel like a home. There is no need to rush as much as we did!
