Name: Anna Bautista & AJ Calomay
Location: West LA/T-Lofts &mdash Los Angeles,CA
Size: 1,000 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year — Own
Anna and AJ have are the first residents in this brand new loft apartment. They have taken on the task of giving it a full makeover with new decor and furnishings, and the brains behind the operation is the interior design duo of Natalie Younger and Sayre Ziskin.
They've decorated the home with rich warm colors and adding modern and colorful art work and furniture to bring out the modernism of the building. Each angle of the home is accented with sleek yet warm textures. There is great subtle lighting that reaches each corner and the dark wood finishes add an extra level of sophistication. I especially love that they added wood-inspired wallpaper in the dining room and built a wall to create an "office".
For a first home together, I think Anna and AJ have an amazing space!
Apartment Therapy Survey:
Our Style: Simple modern with natural/eco textures, Filipino/ethnic accents, and urban/hip hop flair
Inspiration: After months of trying to relax and watch TV from a yoga mat or air mattress, enough was enough, and we enlisted the professional help and genius vision of Natalie and Sayre of Younger & Ziskin to make our home comfortable and a better reflection of our style and personalities.
Favorite Element: The Osborne & Little Zebrano wall in the dining room is a great focal point.
Biggest Challenge: AJ is a freelance editor, so when he's at home, he is constantly surrounded by stacks of hard drives. The new pony wall provides separation between his office space and the living area, as well as a hiding place for the maze of cables.
What Friends Say: Our friends are just happy that they no longer feel like they have to BYOC - Bring Your Own Chair
Biggest Embarrassment: We used to be embarrassed about the yoga mat, air mattress, and general lack of seating. After the design project, the only thing left to replace is a halogen lamp.
Proudest DIY: We tried to think of a way to highlight the numerous projects AJ has worked on and edited without coming off as self-obsessed (It's about the art and community, people!). The mosaics in the entryway are composed of screenshots from 3 different eras of his work, laid over his logo using MacOSaiX (free program), and printed on canvas. As an added bonus, the artwork hides our breaker panel.
Biggest Indulgence: Our custom couch, made locally by The Sofa Company. Sure beats a yoga mat any day.
Best Advice: Call Natalie and Sayre
Dream Sources: Did we mention Younger & Ziskin?

Shaw's Original Fir...
What are the bedside tables?
Love the kitchen backsplash!
The kitchen~!
Also, what are those plants you have hanging by the dining area?
@schedel: could be ikea malm.
I had the exact same thought as fleo !
I really love this space, even if it's not very personal. I really like the amount of color: not too much, just enough so it's not bland. Nice.
Has a very 'LA' feeling to me - which isn't bad - I love this place. Very well put together and just enough personal touch with the artwork. Love the kitchen backsplash too!
I love this house! The kitchen/dining room is just perfect and I love the hanging pendants over the night tables in the bedroom.
Love it!!! This is the aesthetic that speaks to me. Clean, modern lines are very soothing to me, and they allow art and objects to pop. I love spaces that are warmed up with art, color and interesting things (but not over crowded). Really beautiful! I am definitely interested in the backsplash material, as I'm looking for something and don't really want tile.
Stunning, stunning, stunning. I'm not sure I see any Filipino/ethnic accent here but every single detail is modern perfection.
agree w/ Elizabeth&Josh on the backsplash! what is it though? can you get other colors?
Amazing! Simply perfect. Love love the idea of incorperating A.Js work in the 3 personalized canvas giving it a very personal touch for the both, which adds a very flawless sense of accomplishment to the apartment and couple. Genius!
Thanks justanotherculturalreference! I've been looking for a modern wall-mounted nightstand with a drawer for a while now!
There's so much to love about this space. It's a modern home yet it feels so warm and inviting. I love the dining room, the living room (the one with planters) and the kitchen. There are also many great pieces in this home as well.

YES please... I will absolutely live there! This is a gorgeous, fun, modern home!!!
That kitchen is the living end. So gorgeous.
Beautiful! Especially in love with the aqua backsplash.
Where are the Filipino design accents?
Yup, definitely the Ikea Malm nightstands, just cleverly mounted on the wall.

OMG! Love love love this space. But... I'm not as inspired by it because it feels beyond my level of possibility, because it's so professional looking.
But, its so beautiful, I especially love the bedroom, green credenza and the sofas.
OH. MY. GOD. love at first sight with the credenza... and that wallpaper, did I say OH.MY. GOD! I have to go get that credenza, like now! This space is absolutely rockin' !!!
Very swanky, very crisp. Bravo.
Fresh to death!! After seeing this I am now seriously re-evaluating my current living situation. All around very impressive.
This is by far my most favorite House Tour post! I love the color palette, the restraint and how functional yet minimal the interiors are. Good job, guys!
Coveting the navy wall...gorgeous
This is my ALL TIME favourite House Tour! I want to live in your home! I love everything! Every last detail! Quick question... is your duvet from West Elm the one in steel blue or slate? It changes depending on lighting, so I can't be sure! Fabulous house with wonderful colours, textures, artwork... I'll be raving about this one for ages!
Love love love!
Love the art. Can you please tell me about the art over your sofa?
I've been to T Lofts. Very cool Many of the design elements here are in every loft.
Everything is so new that it gives the impression of a high-end hotel...nice, but impersonal. And it's too bad they couldn't have found a more inconspicuous spot for the microwave. It ruins the lines of the upper kitchen cabinets.
Where can I find that dining table? Google searches come up empty for Trade Vendor
The backsplash is toughened glass. We use it a lot in Australia, very popular. It can come in what ever colour you desire, as the back of the glass is painted. The glass has a natural green tinge to it though, so the colour will not be exact.
It's more expensive than tile, and changes can not be made to the glass once the glass is made. It's extremely easy to clean and look after, and looks stunning.
here is one national Australian supplier to give you more infomation - http://www.stegbar.com.au/products/splashbacks/
I'm sure there are North American suppliers.
I've got the same question as jtlg. Nada on Trade Vendor. Does that mean you got it from a design-trade vendor? What's the brand?
I love it! Your bedroom is to die for and I love all your colour schemes. It's fantastic!
@Cate G - I think the hanging plant holders in the dining area are from the Shane Powers Hanging Glass Bubble Collection at West Elm. Love them!
Love it!!! Love it !!! Love it!!! The bedroom is to die for ! i ♥ the pendant on the bed side... the color scheme of the whole house is awesome.. So gorgeous :)
Lovely... I keep staring at the dining room though because I'm 99% convinced I've seen the exact room in a West Elm catalog.
Ooooooo....sigh..
very nice loft. <3 it!
BEDROOM
• Headboard, drapes: Custom built Panels for the Headboard, Custom Drapes
where can I find the headboard drapes??? is there a possibility to buy them online?? I cant find one which look like the panels in the picture. PLEASE HELP!
Oh my dear... the kitchen, dining, living area is absolutely stunning. I am obsessed with this kitchen. Absolutely obsessed. I had no idea how gorgeous bamboo wood paneling looks when it's done well!!
Please remind me who the artist is who did the living room prints. I remember seeing originals of some of his work at the Brooke Alexander gallery in the 80s and have always wanted one! Are these originals and if not where did you find them?
After seeing the amazing job done here, I am inspired to do something unique and fantastic in 2012 for my place as well. I'll definitely need the help of the experts!!!
this space is awesome! but i have to say i was a bit deceived by the bathroom..compared to the other spaces of the loft it looks kind of plain with the white tiles, and is it me or the floor of the encased shower is a bit unclean? else than that i like everything, its given me great ideas for my future condo coming fall 2013!
