The closet in my guest bedroom never hosted much clothing, and I decided it'd be a perfect tucked away spot for sewing and crafting.
My workspace in my last apartment was a craft cabinet, so a closet was a step up. I painted the bottom portion of the wall with leftover paint and built a desk with wood and metal braces from Home Depot. I hung acrylic shelves on the left wall and added a custom corkboard, task lamp, filing cabinet, and calendar. I left the original closet shelf in place (to hold purple containers I already had), so that the space can more easily transition back to its original purpose some day. Overall I spent about $150, and now the closet is the perfect spot to get creative and messy.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Nice! AND (I presume) you can close the door to hide it away!
I'm afraid I've outgrown that amount of space... but I am trying slowly to streamline down to something more sane...
Hmm, the after is pretty great, but the before has a dog in it, so...
I can't imagine having a closet not full of stuff
I did the same but since I have an 8' closet in my guestroom, I choose simple wire closet organizer on one side and craft items on the other side.
I really like what you did with the shelving on the side as opposed to right in front of you. I may snag that idea if you don't mind. :oD.
Nice inspiration...
hehe @logicbutton!
Nicely organized. I have so much admiration for people who can work in a tight space. I just can't manage to do it.
I love how the after looks practical with translucent boxes to see what you have and not too much fluff. I'm quite jealous.
cool chair
I love the side shelving as well, so much more practical.
where did you get that dog chair in the before photo? it looks like a real dog. dogs are great.
I gasp in shock and horror every time I see a beautiful closet turned into one of these.
KUSHKUSH--Really,? Why?
Nice! I wish I had an unused closet to convert into a craft space.
looks awesome! but i'm wondering how the lamp is plugged in. i'd probably be bothered by the cord extending out of the space
I know! An empty closet <faints clean away>
Nice job.
This looks so functional! I wish I had a spare closet to do this with. I have a weird triangle shaped room off my back porch that I use as a "craft room", but it's windowed on three walls, and brick on the fourth, so there isn't anywhere to put shelving. It's also awkward to arrange furniture, because of the size and shape. It basically looks really cute, and I use it for storage, then do my actual crafting on the dining room (or kitchen) table!
Dog is like"what is this little room?"
Spare closets? Space? Supplies that will fit in a closet?
These are dreams. Appriciate this. My apartment is just too small for my wardrobe and my art AND my sewing.
Where did you find the groovy chair?
That chair is awesome.
very well done! can somebody please tell me what kind of dog is that? hes adorable!
that is**
Looks like a French Bulldog
thank you :)
A closet (which is usually an ugly, bland white thing) turned into a functional and thoughtfully organized space. I bet you can immediately find what you're looking for, avoid duplicate buys and hoarding of things you may never use either. Great job!
