Mark lives in an eco-friendly urban loft condo at the TLofts in Los Angeles. Everything about this building is minimalist and monochromatic. When he hired his designers his requests were to bring in a layered, warm and sexy vibe to each corner of the home. Merging a bit of Hollywood Regency with some elements of Asian decor, this home was given a complete makeover.
I really love their use of gold everywhere, and the dark walls that tone down the blazing natural light. Not only did they custom design elements like the dining table (which has built in cabinets in the base) but they also were not afraid to embrace the dim lighting.
Seeing the before and afters will give you a pretty good idea of we can easily translate our ideas right into home.
Thanks Mark!

Wow! Well, the change is certainly dramatic. Clearly the designers made good use of the palette in Mark's existing artwork. The color scheme is so not my thing (reminds me of a casino suite or something), but for that very reason it's also masculine, warm and sexy. It looks like they really catered to their client's taste.
wow well done!
This is beautiful. I especially love the drink area in the final picture. Very creative.
I can definitely appreciate someone who works so well with such rich and dark colors. Due to the size of my current apartment, I have to stick with lighter colors. However, I'm definitely looking forward to the day when I can incorporate more color into a future home.
Thanks for sharing!
Very well done! Agree that it's not exactly my taste, but I would love an invitation to a dinner party at a home like this! Definitely not your cookie-cutter "minimalistic, eco-friendly" design. I appreciate that they (the designers and the client) took some risks to create a unique space.
'Playboy After Dark". Very sexy! I can hear the ice cubes and the cocktail shakers!
Wowsers. Crazy beautiful. LOVE!
I've been wondering how to mix masculine larger pieces and soften them with softer accessories. This has definitely helped drum up some ideas.
This is gorgeously done... and hilarious!
That's just...I mean, it's just...like wow...
What a transformation! I especially LOVE the kitchen
Too much black for my taste, but there are some nice dramatic touches here. My favorite is the bedroom.
I don´t know, i mean i like very much the after but in some cases I like even more the after.
To me, the bedroom was the most gorgeous transformation.
But maybe I prefer whites colors.
Excuse me while I drool... I love this.
What is the wall covering in the entry? Wallpaper or paint?
I could never live there because I like things bright and airy... but I have to admit that the entire place is gorgeous. I especially love the kitchen and the walls in the entryway.
WHAT is that on the living room floor? It is wonderfully unusual.
Nice crib dude. Portentous, Exotic, Bling-o-rific.
Only thing I would add is a taxidermy tiger rug. And, maybe a giant bear too clutching a walking cane collection.
A shark tank could possibly work too imho, but maybe thats just me.
Love this place
So much nicer than the typical "Afternoon at IKEA" makeover we see here...
Very glamorous - I don't suppose we are all invited over for cocktails? I've got a nice new dress I've been wanting to take out for a spin . . .
With that much testosterone, he is going to sprout hairs in between his toes
Curious where the workspace is in the "after". I love the look, but from the photos it appears to completely eliminate the computer workstation. I'm assuming it was there out of necessity?
such a bold, masculine makeover! LOVE the rich colors and the various lighting sources! NICELY DONE!
I know some pretty masculine guys, but this makeover just seems like too much. It sounds like what Mark wanted, but all the black and gold, and really pushing the "rich, swinging bachelor" . . . it comes off as affected as Mystery's fuzzy top hat.
the work station was reconfigured to the side of the living space. i just didn't feature it here in the post oops :(
wow great job. When I was condo shopping i was weary of places like his "before" pictures. I was skeptical if it was possible to give them any character or personality. They really proved you can.
Two words...panty dropping! Very cool to see the before/after transformation and Mark definitely ended up with a sick setup!! A fearless approach to design resulting in a one-of-a-kind space worth showing off. Very, very well done.
Wow! amazing
GAHHHH!! I love dark walls!! I love masculine decor. And my husband loves me for that. Our loft has similar elements, but certainly not to this degree of detail. I'm in love. Love love love.
Ha! I absolutely LOVE Billiam F.'s comment and I'm on board with the "panty dropping" sentiments about this place. Your pad went from single dude to The Most Interesting Man In The World status.
Love it, where is the rug/carpet from? I'm not a fan of the poster however..the proportions seem wrong, if you are attached to it I would get a new one and re-frame it so that the quality matches the rest of the home.
Certainly the opposite of my taste, but that said, that kitchen is the most dramatic example of "the power of paint" that *I've* ever seen.
I too am curious about the wall finish in the entry. Nicely subtle. I want.
Errrm ... I dunno. Maybe a little less gold (like the gold painted air duct in the dining room)? I would rather have just done that to match the walls.
for everyone interested in the textured walls, it's a black matte on black gloss patterned wall paper. i'll get the source and get back to you :)
Im not so fond of the transformation. I think a little more restraint would have been best in this situation. You can have a dark masculine look without making it look "cheap". Look into Roman and William's design sense, they are known for there sense of theatricality, but in good taste!
This feels a bit like a Bond villain's lair to me. I can appreciate the detail that went into this, but the only parts of the transformation that actually wowed me were the bedroom and the pendant lights in the kitchen. All in all, it's a bit much.
I don't want to live there, but I definitely want to date the man who does.
Makes me want to listen to Bryan Ferry and drink Absinthe
Love the 2046 poster and the new lighting in the kitchen.
mysteriously playful! KUDOS!
I really like the entry wallpaper. The bedroom is the only thing that screams pimp at me, in a bad way, but I think it's mostly the leathuh throws on the bed. Otherwise it all gets a pass. Well, maybe not gold-painted ductwork. That veers on the tacky side, too. I have to wonder why the easel holding the art didn't get painted gold....
Good grief, this is glorious. Absolutely stunning. The improvements are just astounding. It looks like you picked the color palate out of that 2046 poster and just ran with it. So sexy. So stunning. What an amazing transformation!
It is nice...very nice, but doesn't look like anyone could really "live" here. Way too dark, for me... Opulent? Yes, but taste is taste, and is a good thing that we all have different likes and dislikes.
But why does it seem to me that most bachelor pads are so dark??
I agree with several other posters; way too dark! However, it does show what one can do in a drab, uniform-type apartment with some imagination.
Wow! I love the way you presented these pictures with before and afters. I can really see the blank canvas and your make over - the dramatic difference it made.
Congrats
Love the dark colors. Creates a rich, warm feel. Gold air vent is brilliant. Great attention to detail. Inspiring.
Ugh. I found this completely over the top and clichéd. I can't imagine any man could actually live up to the hype established by the "tone" of this place. It's as if he has no personality of his own and just paid for the image he wants to project. I hope that's not true, but that is the vibe I get from these photos.
I love it, but try some soft Halogen bulbs~~the cold brightness really takes away from the look.
Kept saying "WOW" with every picture. I like the dark, sexy feel of the place but the gold accents and some of the accessories are so over the top..I couldn't imagine actually living there. Very dramatic change though.
Bold but beautiful! Could you give us a source for the black leather wing chair in the living room?
I had a purple kitchen. Boy was it a drag to cook in. Too dark to see. Even with my then-perfect eyesight! Forget about it now.
Form follows function. Maybe they order food in!
2046! awesome. I have an In the mood for love waiting to be framed :) Very interesting apartment
love the texture in the entry way. What is it?
I could picture Snoop Dog living here...and that's about it.
Can i move in! My dream Apt!
Fabulous! If I lived here, I could probably never wear sweatpants around the house again :)
what's the GREAT green color in the kitchen???
I bet you a million dollars theres a bottle of 'Sex Panther by Odeon' in the medicine cabinet.
One of my favorite before/afters + tours ever.. I would not have expected them to do a dark green in the kitchen but it works amazingly well.
Love the dark green in the kitchen. Name of paint and shade please.
I love this so much and I am a total girly girl. I am inspired by this because I have been having a hard time decorating our place which my boyfriend originally painted very dark and blah. This before/after is AMAZING!
I like that it's glamorous... but that's about all.
