Monica had been on the lookout for an armchair to paint ever since she fell in love with one such project she found online. When she finally did find what she through was the right $50 chair for this endeavor, she then changed her mind. A small tear in the fabric convinced her that reupholstering was the better way to go — until, that is, she got a quote for $300 and decided to revisit her DIY options.

Monica used three cans of Simply Spray fabric paint in Caribbean Blue to paint the front of the chair. To deal with the tear, she decided to recover the sides of the chair with fabric she found on Etsy. Covering the dark wood frame with a coat of yellow paint that she had on hand was the final touch to her armchair makeover. The fabric paint, pillow, and fabric cost Monica only $68, making this a fun and frugal project.

I'd have paid her good money for that chair in its original condition -- I love it. I will, however, defend her right to do as she pleases with what she owns. The palette and boldness of the After hints at Van Gogh's sunflowers, which always cheers me up.
Yes, the before was good too but the after is just quirky, fun, cool and so unexpected. Really super job!
Lovely and cheery chair. The make over isn't what I expected which doubles the enjoyment.
the after is the before. what a shame.
A fun and colorful pillow on the 'before' chair would have worked for me but I do like the redo, although I can't help but wonder if the fabric spray makes the seat a little rough...
love the colors and the contrast.
