This small wall isn't an eyesore, but it's just kind of "there". It's between the bedrooms of Kimba's sons and she decided to make it not just a place to display their art, but a space for creating art too. Check it out:
It's nothing terribly tricky or time-consuming, but what an impact!
Kimba painted thrifted and craft store frames to provide visual cohesion and filled them with her boys' artwork. As she says, "Everything on that wall means love to me." Kimba painted the lower half with chalkboard paint and now her sons can draw on the walls (well, that wall anyway) whenever inspiration strikes.
This wall project is not just an aesthetic addition, but is a lovely example of making a home really yours and making each member feel loved and honored.
See more photos of Kimba's wall on her blog, A Soft Place to Land, and be sure to check out her post with tips for creating a gallery wall.

Looks great!
Awww.... love it!
Great inspiring job! I would love to see that boy's bedroom that we have a tiny view of.....
How awesome! I love that his artwork is displayed and the chalkboard wall is just fun!
So fun! I can't wait to move back to Canada and personalize a home like this!
Love it! So beautiful. Do you have a problem with the chalk staining the carpet? Or does it vacuum right up?
This gives me an idea!!
I love this! With these wonderful chalkboard walls, does anyone worry about chalk dust in little lungs? Or am I just a paranoid mom of a kid with asthma?
Thanks for all of your kind comments! My boys love their chalkboard wall and I love the artwork.
I haven't had any problems with the chalk on the carpet. I just vacuum it every few days. I did buy some of the "dustless" chalk and it seems to make a little less dust than the regular stuff.
Where is the Biblical verse poster/plaque thing from? Love it!
What a great job, I love it! Thanks for the inspiration and tip on dustless chalk, I didn't know there was such a thing!
That plaque came from the Urban Soul Collection on the Dayspring site. There's a link to it in my "tips" post:

it really looks fantastic (i've been a fan of kimba's blog for ages). i'm glad to see i'm not the only mommy worrying about the mess & breathing the dust.... i bought some chalkboard paint recently & it didnt work for the project i intended... BUT we have a nice wall that I could section off like this. very creative!
Nice! You did a great job with this.
THis is great! I'm going to do this at my place!
Crazy! I have similar color walls in our similar hallway and I did something similar several years back. But we never finished it! Your project has given me some great ideas to complete ours. Love the moulding around the light switch, brilliant!
good job! inspiring!!
LOVE it. I will be doing this shortly!
This is brilliant! I have the same hall here at home with our girls' bedrooms across from eachother. This would be perfect for them!
Love it! Does anyone know what happens when someday you want to paint over chalkboard paint? Would love to know if it's easy or a special process.
Awesome!
oh, i've been saying i was going to do this same thing in our hallway. we have two chalkboards in our kitchen for our girls already. our hallway is pretty blah since its narrow, long and only leads to our girls bedrooms. not many folks see it. perhaps this bright space will be the inspiration i need to get it finished! nicely done!
fantastic! it seems to make the hall larger too. great place for a chalkboard.
Love it!
that inspires me to do make a kids' wall too.
Thanks!
