Beth tells us that, before she got her hands on this piece, it had been used as an ironing board. That's not good wood care! Luckily, Beth also says, "I love me a good challenge when it comes to wood refinishing." She sure got one.
Whoa, that is one sexy dresser. We just love how the bright white offsets the newly-restored wood and really highlights those gorgeous leg details.
Because of the abuse, the wood top was so beat up and bowed that I had to replace it. I got a solid piece of quality pine, cut to size and routed the edges. The drawer fronts were also in poor shape. However, wood is pretty forgiving. A thorough sanding and staining was all that was needed to perk these up again. I used Sherwin Williams Pro-Classic enamel for the white, brushed by hand. I love how it turned out. There is something so rewarding about taking a piece like this that was destined for the trash and turning it into a practically brand new piece.
