Q: I received this coffee table as well as a matching side table for free. You can't beat free; I'm just not crazy about them. I have a 4 year old so you can imagine having a glass top table isn't the brightest idea but I hate to get rid of them because that means finding something to replace them and I'm a keep-it-'til-it-falls-apart kinda girl. Any suggestions for redoing these tables? More
I'll admit that I was a little late jumping onto the Etsy bandwagon. For me, the term "handmade" brings to mind crocheted toilet paper roll cozies and hot glued seashell frames. And while you will still find a wealth of, um, amateurish items on Etsy — many of which are curated for the aptly named Regretsy — Etsy remains the world's largest marketplace of goods crafted by both fledgling hobbyists and skilled artisans. Here is my pick of the best handcrafted items currently available for your home. More
I've been transfixed by the living room in Andy & Andrew's Vintage Modern house tour all week. I'm completely in love with the look of this home! And while the couple have decorated their home with thrift store and flea market finds, presumably over a stretch of time and with a great deal of patience, I've rounded up a list of brand new products for achieving a similar look in a fraction of the time. When living in a small space, it can feel like adding a coffee or side table would make it feel to crowded. Enter the clear acrylic table. It has all the benefits of being a place to set down your beverage but its transparent quality means it practically disappears! More
When Connie found this coffee table at a thrift store, it was in pieces and the tabletop, meant to open to accommodate a leaf, was nailed shut. Though this bulky wooden piece had seen better days, it was clearly a sturdy table with a lot of life left in it — it just needed a little love and attention. More
Sometimes, the classic rectangular or square coffee table just won't do. In today's open floor plan or loft style, organically shaped tables keep the room flowing and allow the freedom to arrange your furniture in a couple of different layouts. They come in oval, circle, egg, leaf and even amorphous! With these nine beauties, you'll never get "cornered" into a fixed arrangement. More
Q: I have become an adult. *hold your applause* And I am moving into my first apartment. This is a mood board for everything that I have purchased. However, the coffee table is not complete and I have to choose a finish. Do I want dark or light? Walnut or Pickled Oak? My walls are all white with the wall behind the sofa in a Federal Blue stencil, and my curtains are white sheers. Thanks in advance for helping me leave my childhood behind! More
My search for the perfect coffee table is endless. Not because of a lack of variety, just the opposite. There are tables in so many sizes, shapes and materials that, as often happens to me while decorating, I'm paralyzed by choice.
It's not just the design of the products at Thrive Home Furnishings that are a throwback to the 1950s. So is the fact that all of the company's furniture is designed and manufactured in the United States — Los Angeles to be exact… More
Sometimes you have to touch and knock a piece of furniture to check if it is real wood and not just some factory-made composite. Well, not with these pieces. You can tell they're wood because you can see the grain and the natural shape of the wood--sometimes even the bark. What do you think of these tables, which look like cross-sections of a tree trunk or a slice of tree? Do you love their organic, natural untamed look or do you think they reek of faux rustic ski lodge?
