This Color-Changing Furniture Is An Instagram Filter IRL

If you’ve been searching high and low for eye-catching ways to spread some trippy vibes throughout your home, look no further than Color Flow, a mini-collection of monochromatic furniture from Seoul-based design studio Orijeen.

The aesthetically stimulating furniture sets consist of a tall standalone wardrobe accentuated by green, blue and yellow hues along with a sideboard decorated with a combination of pinks, purples and blues. Each piece manages to offer ample storage space and turn heads at the same time, thanks to the lenticular surfaces that adorn the designs with various hues that seamlessly morph into one another. At first glance, it may appear that your eyes are playing tricks on you because the colors actually change depending on your position and movement. That just goes to show that even the wacky illusions found in fun houses can serve as major design inspiration.

While most of us purchase cabinets based on price, durability, the number of shelves they have or how they fit into the overall theme of our homes, these color-changing pieces are meant to have an impact on the surrounding space and the bold person who owns them. As with all of Orijeen’s unique creations, the furniture is intended to highlight the connection between humans, objects and the environment.

Orijeen previously incorporated its lenticular surface gradient technique into Color Words, a pair of colorful wall shelves and an accompanying cabinet that each bears a pattern featuring Hangeul, the letters of the Korean alphabet. In 2015, the studio released Ryun, a paper and bamboo foldable lamp whose multi-purpose design combines traditional, modern and futuristic elements.
