Nomade Express Slee...
These are lovely, living room worthy specimens to be sure, but the price? ouch. I have two attractive rope (think hammock like) chairs with cushy padded seat and back support hanging in each of my girls rooms. The rooms aren't very large but with a little more room than you would allocate for any other standard chair they are fine and the girls LOVE them. I found them on amazon for under $30 bucks each - yep. They have other options for just a bit more that are also very nice. Just sayin'.
Looks the most comfortable: MANU Nest Hanging Chair from Maffam Contact
I've seen and sat on the one from Pier One and it's on a wish list...still not too sure about it. Plus, I have slope ceilings in both my small dining room and livingroom and that's where I could perfer to hang it
My best friend from high school had one of these in the 70's from Pier One. Love the look but it wasn't that comfortable. Cannot believe the price now! Am I cheap or just old?
looks like reading combined with a good abdominal workout. would you read like this on purpose?
The way that girl is reading... That cannot be even remotely comfortable!
Comfortable? No, but who cares about comfort when they look "fun, fun, fun!"
gah, i have to be rude now! please AT users stop b!tching around because of that girl reading this way or other things that are NOT the point of the articles. i really try not to read the comments, as they tend to be so annoying these days...
sorry for the outburst >_<
Agreed, and as a reader who reads for hours on end and contorts herself into some really interesting positions in the process (I have a yoga trapeze in the living room that acts as my hanging chair/ reading perch) I have to say that just because something doesn't look comfy to one person doesn't make it uncomfy to everyone. :)
Love that nest. There's an image of it on the internet somewhere suspended over a river and I daydream about it constantly...
@Finja, I took one look at the girl in the chair and (regardless of whether it's "relevant") thought "My god, that would KILL my neck! I't obviously a staged shot, and we probably all know that upon reflection, but it does effect my reaction. Just sayin! ;^)
I think of these kinds of chairs as suitable for loft spaces and other especially high ceiling spaces. They would be in the way in my house.
Today, I was searching for Hanging Chairs on Google! And, I found this great post on Apartment Therapy. I love to make Home made collections like Hanging Chairs, Hammocks and many more. I have made one attractive HandmadeVintage Retro Style Silk Rope Hanging Swing Chair and list on my Etsy shop. That's 100% eligible to be a part of this blog post. I am quite excited to make more handing chairs with rope and other materials. By the way, This is fabulous article and love photos which you have used over here!!
i have been making hanging chairs, and have been trying to promote them inside the house. i think they are great in big master bedrooms, playrooms...and any living room with a high ceiling...hanging chairs are wasted in the garden in alot of the world, and with well made ones, they are the most comfortable chair going. i like bohorockers siesta chair.
