Gina Comin has created an eclectic and warm home that she shares with her boyfriend and son, which just happens to be located above her fun and eccentric vintage store Cominichi's. With artwork, jewelry, antiques and furniture from around the world, her home is both inviting and the ultimate bohemian abode.
Considering that Cominichi's, which is filled with vendors bringing in the best of Santa Barbara's vintage, is right downstairs, it's not a surprise that Gina's home is a wonderfully distilled-down continuation of the style of the store. The architecture is part of the package - there are huge french doors and windows that allow incredible natural light, hardwood floors and bright colored walls that add to the ambiance. Guitars, throw pillows and collected bottles are just some of the elements of Gina's own style of home nostalgia. One thing I loved most was the glass half full labeled "Love & Gratitude" and the ledge of crystals that line the window.

Total love. I'm grabbing my fringed shawl and coming right over.
So different and so unique! I can't believe you only lived here for 7 months...it looks like you have been living here forever. Love it!
Love the papel picados! Where did those come from? I've been looking for some hardy plastic ones.
Lovely home. So warm and inviting!
You have some very beautiful furniture. Your home feels like it belongs to a kid's free spirited aunt that loves playing dress up and singing to records with her nieces. And I mean that in the best way possible.
Where are the kitties?
I don't think this style is eclectic, but rather collected. It's rather consistent. While not my style at all there are many elements I find interesting. I'm amazed you did all this in seven months.
The problem I have with these sites is twice I asked where to find a particular red & white comforter and no one has ever gotten back to me.
Hippie chic.
She may have only lived here for 7 months but I'm pretty sure she has been gathering her home for years.
I almost feel as if I have gotten a glimpse of my daughter in the future. She is currently only 17 but there is something in the apartment and the owner... even with how she interpreted and answered the questions. Kinda freaky.
This is appealing delightful. What a nice world these folks have created.
love seeing a peek into a beautiful home, as usual brought to us through great photos by bethany!
A nuvo So Calif hippy place!
-holy conch shells batman-
lovely place-beautiful vanity and rugs.
Disappointed there wasn't more: bathroom? son's room? kittie cats? outdoor space? wouldn't mind peeking into the store either.
My little studio apartment is a smaller version of this style. I LOVE the collected, mismatched, vintage look. Great job, Gina!
Very lovely. Has a beachy free feeling. I like that you can tell people actually live here as opposed to other homes that are too austere and decorated and seem like they just stepped out of design class. Well done, your house is a home.
I didn't want the tour to end. A real comfy feel good awesome home! Loved.
I live in town and will have to check out her store sometime. Didn't even know it existed! Nice to see a SB rental on the map...usually it's just huge Montecito estates that get featured (not on here, but in general).
I was born and raised in SB nice to see a lively creative well loved space featured here. The store looks like lots of fun. The new SB is something I am not interested in its gotten so chi chi nuevo hollywood but I am not feeling it here from her store.
Especially love that it looks like a real home where real people live. Like the fact that she didn't replace the rice cooker and toaster with a bowl of green apples for the photos. Love the colors, textures, love.
Love everything, except the (real?) leopard skin on the piano.
This is amazing and beautiful. Full of gypsy inspiration. Perhaps I'm biased as that is my taste. Is that aquamarine over the sink?(!) In love with that!
This place is chocked full of fun. Lots of interesting decor. I love the "glow" that the wall color and lighting creates. The fabrics are nice too.
MarshallO that was not a real leopard skin. If I remember from the shoot it was a blanket, or a shall I think?
maybe it was, i can't remember... but I don't think it was?
This makes me want to light up some nag champa and put some Billie Holliday on.
Congrats to this impressing surrounding your guys live in. For me it reflects an open minded attitude. The style is really bohemian. I would love just to walk around to get some inspirations and forget the orderly world outside.
Loved this tour. My favourite was the dressing table with the pink wall with all the whimsical storage. Fab, fab, fab.
So refreshing to see a different kind of home than we are used to seeing here.
Loved your home. One of my dreams is to live over a shop ,the shop I am going to have one day !
HELP!!! i just moved in to my new home 2 weeks ago and have no clue on how to decorate my living room
Pass the absinthe and crank the Nina Simone.
seems so warm, personal, and lived in. love.
that rug is to die for!! mixing and matching home decor in such a lovely way!
smoke a jay and put my feet up!
Ma cheri, such panache! You are a bona fide kindred spirit. I have been searching for the perfect peachy shade to paint my living room-could you kindly tell me what color paint was used for the bedroom?
Warm lovely apt, I too would love to peek in the shop. !
Here's a post I did about Gina's downstairs shop, Cominichi's, in Santa Barbara:

It's as wonderful as you imagine! There are many vendors who comb Southern California for the greatest, most unique vintage finds - and their treasures all end up here, at Cominichi's. I love it.
Hi all, thanks for all your positive comments about my apartment! I have actually lived here on and off for about 7 years, I sublet it out for 3 years, and when I got it back it was trashed so I had a lot of cleaning and repainting to do. The pink color I got from ACE Hardware around the corner, I will try to find the color for you but it's not the REAL color I wanted exactly, because I had very little time to try and do a quick and dirty match of the original color which the previous people had painted over in barf yellow(The color I was trying to match which was I had made up, was sooo utterly heavenly that it achieved a very incredible effect of light changing from Cobalt violet to pink during the day and coral at night, I used three different flat layers, and I cannot believe they ruined it!)
The leopard is real. Someone came in one day and just gave it to me. I was appalled and it is very sad, but very beautiful. I said a blessing over it and kept it. I did not want to disrespect the animal by throwing it away.
It is not a trophy.I love animals and my cats were not in the pictures cause of the flurry of activity, the took to the roof!
The green glass on the kitchen windows are from a water bottle factory, it's called Slag Glass, the left over chunks, you can find them in all kinds of colors and I love the green too! Like Emeralds!! And it's true I have been collecting and getting rid of stuff for a long time, it all came together when I got to move back here again, I just plunked my stuff down and knew where it all went! I love the 1920's and Spanish, Venetian, Grandma style. I always thought I was re-incarnated from an old lady and now I kind of am getting to be one again! Thanks everyone and Thank you Bethany for your beautiful photography and professional friendly attitude!
Gina
I love your apartment, especially the dressing table. The wall color behind it is wonderful. I also love your huge pink rug!
