Years lived in: 2 years, rented
Artist and Mollusk Surf Shop Gallery Director Serena Mitnik-Miller sent us these photos of the tiny surf shack that she lived in, when she resided in Santa Cruz. We loved the photos so much that we decided to share them with you in this mini house tour. Next week, we'll take a peek at Serena's latest digs, a San Francisco surf shack that she shares with her boyfriend and business partner, Mason St. Peter and dog, Macie. Consider this to be a taste of what's to come.

Serena's Santa Cruz apartment was just big enough to house a lofted bed, a couple of drawers, strategically placed shelving, and a desk (she shared a bathroom and kitchen with other tenants). One of its major perks is its location -- right off the beach. Although small in size, it allowed her to do three important things: surf, sleep, and make art. With wood paneled walls and ceilings, Serena's cozy den embodied a sleepy beach town feel, but with a punch of creative and colorful accents provided by her artwork and accoutrements. If you enjoy these photos, stay tuned for next week's tour. You're in for a real treat!

(Thanks, Serena!)

So charming. What a lovely display of a live/work space.
I love this! We're considering giving up our 3 bedroom house and moving into a 200 sq space in the next year so I'd love to see more tours of tiny spaces!
this has SO much potential! i'm not sure how you feel about the knotty pine but if painted white, it would make the space look so much bigger.
and if the books were all vertical and shelved together (not broken up by containers), that'd maximize space too.
man, i'm so jealous!
What a cozy and creative space!
i love your place so much-- and you're a local!
cute. I like how you just pile the books around. It's inviting to open one up, sit on the porch, and just read.
I like the bare wood and piles of books. It has charm and personality. Can't wait to see her new place.
Obviously a well-used and well-loved space. The best kind, imo. Look forward to more.
Agree. Looking forward to more. Feels like I just had a (very pleasant) little trip to the seaside.
This is so inspiring, so charming. I love seeing so many books in such a small space...
I hope you will put a photo of the view next time. Good job!
I'm in love with your space! I usually like stark, minimalist homes, but yours feels warm and welcoming and cosy. Cute doggie too.
