Sophie's room for Lula is imbued with personality and love: I'm a composer and violinist based in London, UK. Waiting for my little Lula to arrive I really wanted to create a unique room that reflected my own style - a combination of classic antique pieces and more quirky or vintage finds - and that allowed me to bring together lots of little treasures collected on the road.
I really wanted to make a gallery wall for Lula so there would be lots for her to look at (and had so much fun doing it). My favourite pieces are the papier mache animal heads from Anthropologie, the hanging chalkboard sign which my sister found in Soho NY and a pencil drawing that the artist Annie Morris did for Lula.
For a feeding chair, I chose to recover a 19th Century piece with black denim and to pile it with cushions. Lula's cot and matching changing table came from the amazing Quax in Belgium - I love that they offer alternatives to white/natural wood and was struggling to pick between the black and this grey hue. I struggled to find really original bed linens in the UK - so many cutesy cartoon characters and a plethora of pinks and blues - so was thrilled to discover Kid Rebellion and PS I Love You in Holland. The red gingham print is a particular favourite as it reminds me of my own childhood holidays in the Swiss Alps. The patchwork quilt on Lula's cot is also very precious as all my girlfriends and female relatives contributed patches and it was presented at my baby shower. The rug was also a gift from my sister the interior designer Selina Van der Geest's shop NLGB in upstate New York.

White Enamel Four-P...
cute room!
We LOVE rooms with posters - large and/or small! Lots of clients have been coming in - with summer finally hitting Montreal residents are officially out of hibernation! - and our framed pieces are flying off the wall. What I like about Lulu's room is how she has hung pieces in a different way ... in the gallery we have begun experimenting with hanging posters so that they overlap in the corners - a little different, a bit of a conversation starter, and totally awesome!
Good work Lulu!
This is my dream nursery... So many wonderful things to look at! Love that crib/dresser mixed with the antiques... PERFECT
I love this room - what a good take on the child's name on the wall too. I love the fact that Sophie has chosen letters from different places rather than matching ones. May have to steal that idea for my little one!
I love this room, too! I also really to mix new and vintage pieces, and I think this is a great collection. I also really like your music, Sophie. Well, I like what I can hear so far. I tried to purchase your album, but I'm only allowed to buy albums from the US itunes store unfortunately. I'd love to hear more!
Thanks for sharing!
