

Ah yes, we can certainly appreciate impromptu, but correct and recyclable wine storage. Aleena is looking for some suggestions: I have been on the search for dining chairs to go with my Crate and Barrel extension dining table that is similar to the Avalon, only a little chunkier on the bottom. The table is in the need for a good painting as the top has been worn down. So my options are limitless as far as painting the table to match the chairs. I prefer a dark brown or black though, to stay neutral. I found this chair (shown above) on Amazon, but would like to find something similar for less than $200 a piece from a more reputable store or maybe something like this for a little cheaper....

Okay, so we know Outdoor Month is over, but there are still many summer weekends to come, and so we couldn't resist sharing some more ideas for garden parties from Sweet Paul, the blog of food stylist Paul Lowe. He uses cut flowers in unconventional ways, providing helpful tips for how to replicate the ideas at home. For this lovely garland, which we spotted on Housemartin, Paul used binder clips to suspend the flowers from lengths of ribbon, wrapping the ends of the stems in some wet cotton to preserve them. I've been wanting to post about these enamel bowls ever since my trip to Beijing in May, but figured they ought to wait until Escapes month, so here they are! Despite their bulk, I couldn't resist cramming a couple into my suitcase. In Beijing they're ubiquitous, used for washing clothes, selling fruit and sunflower seeds, and so on. My husband, a very practical man, looked at them askance when I unpacked them, so for his benefit and yours, I've made a list of things these bowls would be great for (other than just looking pretty).
