The house stands out on the street as a sweet, contemporary haven with subtle storybook details. Their bright, red, front door and modern, silver house numbers are just a preview of the chic decor inside.

The house itself has gone through an extensive renovation, all headed up by Dominic and Sam themselves (evidenced by their extensive list of appliance resources below). When the couple bought the house, they got to work on a remodeling overhaul, changing up the floor plan and adding subtle luxuries like remote control skylights and a secluded backyard paradise. Definitely make sure to watch this great video which details the house’s evolution from start to finish.

In terms of decorating, the interior of the home is just as warm and congenial as the Spencer/Williamson family. It is obvious that each piece of furniture or accent is deliberately displayed because of its sentiment or beauty, and is important to the family’s story. I was astounded to find out that most of my favorite pieces in the home were collected at garage sales throughout the years. That, paired with the calming paint colors, contemporary pieces and bright, sunny windows gives the house an easygoing and happy atmosphere. I want to live in this house when I grow up!

Biggest Challenge: Encompassing kids ‘stuff’ with the aesthetic.

What do friends say? “I love your house, where do you get all those lovely things?”

Biggest Embarrassment: washing dishes in the bathtub for 2 months during a lengthy kitchen remodel. Or breaking my finger by falling from a dump truck.

Proudest DIY: We chose the house for its room layout and location. When we moved into the house it was run down, very outdated and quite shocking – Sam didn’t even venture upstairs for the first 6 months as it was so dingy. It has evolved over 8 years and has transformed into a place that we love to come home to!

Biggest Indulgence: The remote controlled skylight, or upstairs bathtub.

Best Advice: Take your time, collect stuff over the years and rotate things, change stuff around. Fortunately Sam and I have very similar taste which really helps the decision making process.

Dream Sources: Anthropologie’s displays – so creative! And British Magazine Living ect. BRILLIANT!!
