We are always impressed with Anthropologie. Their collection of antique and new dinnerware, glassware, curtains, bedding, rugs, lighting, hardware and furniture is beautiful, whimsical and colorful, like a French flea market. Their catalog alone is worth perusing just for the visual eye candy...

There are too many favorites to list, but we particularly love their upholstery collection. (And apparently you all do, too. When the Astrid chair showed up once on Scavenger for $500, there was practically a mob scene to get it.) Their curtains are always a hit with us as well, as are their rugs. But for more affordable options, their kitchen selection is a must-see. Aprons, mugs, dish towels — many for under $20. Anthropologie is a good place if you're looking for something romantic, something a little more opulent to add to your uber modern decor.

Does anyone know where you can get discount Anthropologie merchandise? I have been searching for an outlet or a clearance store to no avail. Any thoughts?
don't they have a secret policy to destroy merchandise that doesn't sell via their own clearance? you can get anything for good money if you just wait for it to go to the clearance section. almost anything. there was a doormat once that just sold out.
I bought a beautiful old french wood cabinet at the anthropologie on 5th avenue in manhattan at 90% off! It was originally priced (ridiculously) at 1600 and they had it marked down to 160- point being, keep an eye out for sales, they can be really good...
Nice job ccs. Here in SF you can hit up Jeremy's for some stuff. Mostly clothing but I scored a wrought iron multiply hook dingus for a couple bucks.
The in-store sale/clearance often has much better selection than online. I got a coverlet (quilt?) for 75% off because the matching bag that it comes in was ripped (this particular blanket was still full price with an intact carrying bag). That back area (talking about West Broadway NYC) is a bit of a shambles, but worth picking thru if you're a bargain hunter.
I've seen stuff at TJ Maxx, minus the labels, of course. I don't think they destroy anything--it's usually very high end places that are pirated that do that.
I have found that the sales people at my local Anthropologie are usually willing to take an additional percentage off sales and clearance merchandise. This is how I got my murano chandelier that was $3000 for $240.
*sigh*
What a beautiful but over priced cabinet. Wish I could afford it.
wha's your secret, seaside? did you ask a manager or did the average salesgirl take more off?
If an item has been sitting in the clearance section for a while (few weeks) I usually find a sales person on the floor and saysomething along the lines of "I like this item and noticed its been here for a while. If you could ask the manager if she or can take another XX% off of the sale price, I will buy it today." I always ask politely and have yet to be turned down.
I love their stuff but just can't bring myself to do business with them because of their politics.
In case Mrs. Mack ever sees this comment, that cabinet is now (January 2010) half price at their online store. Maybe you could get an even deeper discount if you follow some of the suggestions above!
I discovered Anthropologie years ago in New York City, and I fell in love, hope they will eventually come to Montreal, it is such an exciting store and concept.
