Well-curated, hand selected vintage goods
After more than 30 years of rummaging through flea markets, thrift shops and antique stores, Dorset found the antidote to his passion for possessing a vast range of items from many eras through his Brooklyn, New York business. With Dorset Finds, he indulges his inner collector by searching for, uncovering and, in some cases, restoring unusual, well worn, beautiful things that tell a story, repurposing pieces from another time and harnessing their functionality in a new way.
Buried in a raw studio space in Fort Greene, Brooklyn is hidden the eclectic showroom of Dorset Finds—welcome to the spiritual home of junk.
After 30 years of scouring the world's best flea markets, junk yards and abandoned spaces, founder Justin Dorset decided to take his love of vintage and turn it into his livelihood. Leaving behind his career in music development (having helped launch bands like The White Stripes), Dorset set up shop in Brooklyn, where he now showcases a tailored collection of vintage finds, ephemera and repurposed furniture.
And good news for digital vintage lovers—Dorset's inventory is online, maintained regularly and readily purchasable through his site. Standouts include a collection of foundry molds for old machine parts, task lamps affixed with heavy gears as bases and an assortment of vintage dental molds.
The best part about Dorset Finds? Everything comes endowed with a wonderful story of acquisition—much of which you can read about on his stylish and informative blog. Head over to his online shop to puruse the inventory and email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a showroom appointment in person.
