Retrouvius is an architectural salvage and design business, established in 1993. Partners Adam Hills and Maria Speake studied architecture before starting the business in Glasgow. We moved to London in 1997. Our motto is "bridging the gap between destruction and construction."

Pin it button big

Retrouvius is a unique combination shop and studio — based in London, they sell salvaged architectural pieces, furniture, and a good mix of what they describe as "mad and quirky pieces," but they also collaborate with architects and designers to "kit out" homes, hotels, and storefronts.

The projects shown above are all English homes that they've decorated and helped to lay out. Styles tend to be modern, but warm, with interesting details like industrial pendant lamps, lofted beds, and salvaged pieces repurposed as wall art.

One nice bonus of the designer / shop system is that if you see a space you like in their portoflio, you can just check their shop inventory for something similar. Retrouvius has a retail location and an online catalog, and they sell pretty much everything that makes up the insides of a home. The big stuff includes flooring, timber, windows, fireplaces, and garden decor; but they also carry furniture, lighting, mirrors, and textiles.

We couldn't find any information about shipping on their site, and there's no functional e-commerce system, so it looks like Retrouvius remains primarily a brick-and-mortar store that uses their site to share photos of their inventory and design projects.
