I live in my one bedroom flat with my husband, our two dogs and two cats. The place is larger than average for a London place, and because it is a lower-ground flat we are really fortunate to have the most charming little garden (which the animals are also very happy with). We've only lived here for 6 months, but I spent a lot of time before we moved in obsessing over every detail, each piece of furniture had to be just right.
I'm just back from the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair. I had a whirlwind three days in the gorgeously snowy, super design-savvy city to soak up as much Scandinavian goodness as I could fit onto my memory card to bring back and share with you. As I start to wade through the nearly 2000 photos I snapped, it seems right to begin with the place I started each day, my home away from home...
When you think of haute hippie glamour and the design riches of the sixties and seventies, you think of the legendary scenes in London and New York, right? Well, one of the more innovative artistic minds of the time was right here in Chicago, and the company forged from the unusual but heady mix of high end handmade, Woodstock, couture, tie dye, and glitz — Maya Romanoff — is still here and going strong.
