I love Before and Afters that feature something hideous or lackluster transformed into something beautiful and creative. This is not that kind of Before and After. This is a perfectly nice guest room completely overhauled to become a "big boy" room for a 2-year-old.

Amanda wrote to share this house project with us. The carpeting stayed, but that is about the only thing that didn't change, including the paint on the walls. I particularly love the mix of patterns and the modern blue-orange color combo. Function-wise, Amanda hit all the nails on the head for a toddler: easy to reach books, an activity table for play and art, and toys stored low enough to grab and go.

Thanks for sharing Amanda! Readers, see much more of this room on Amanda's blog, Modg.

Sheex Bedding
I love the Spoonflower fabric and the David Bowie quote next to the bed.
And it's tchotchke, blogger, tchotchke! Not "chatchke" - I hate the trend of spelling by pronunciation.
Very nice; particularly like the headboard.
And, having finally hung a wall of book ledges yesterday in our kids' room, I love the OP's comment about them on her blog (too true and too funny).
Love the art table!
Adorable! But I can't get on board with the celebration of nose-picking! I notice you cut it out of the version on this page.
LOL I love the nose pick picture! I have one of my son picking his nose in his cozy coupe hanging in our living room and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
Such a great room. The fan looks great. Fans are practical. I wish the design world would just submit to them.....and create better looking ones that don't have astronomical price tags. Love the craft space too. I have 3 boys and that would never fly unattended either. Thanks for sharing.

What an awesome makeover! Love the colors, wich I usually hate together, but this really works. What a lucky little boy.
Love the hanging bins.
Boy, that "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster from the "before" didn't have a very long lifespan, did it? On the other hand, good riddance.
Love the big boy make over! The activity corner is terrific. I love that there's a place to hang up artwork.
this is a good example of a room that will grow w/ kid. textile colours clash a bit, but that may be a favourite & can be changed (lime or chocolate w/navy next?). sensible to use the functional not-so-lovely bureau until it dies. art touches (pictures as tenets, working craft corner, illustrations on books) work & headboard is sophisticated & balances space.
