Industrial loft with wood pallet bed, floral accent wall, and exposed brick

In the last few years, recycled pallets have become one of the top must-have materials for just about every weekend warrior’s DIY project list. And for good reason! They’re a great example of budget-friendly home decor and a low-waste way for DIYers to make stylish rustic decor. Taking it to the bedroom, one of the easiest ways to repurpose pallets at home is with a pallet bed frame.

With this simple project, there’s no longer any need to purchase an overpriced bed frame that’s part of a bedroom suite. The best news? You won’t even have to dismantle the pallets to use them; creating a relaxing bed or daybed is as simple as stacking the pallets and topping them with a mattress. Pair it with a DIY headboard if you’d like, but it’s not a requirement. The result is super sturdy and functional, and—despite their inherent rustic, industrial style—complementary of a wide range of bedroom decor

Need more inspiration? Here are 11 stylish pallet bed frames to get you going.

1. Stack ‘Em High

Not in love with how low to the ground pallet bed frames typically are? Simply stack a few on top of one another for a bed with a more traditional height, like @colleteslittlehome did. There’s only one rule: you probably won’t want to jump on this bed!

2. Corner Bed

Feeling a little cramped by a traditional pallet bed frame? Level it up by making it a nifty corner bed, like the one shown here by @crankybaldwoodart. You’ll get a bit of extra space for a slightly larger bed, and plenty of places to store cups or computers on the extra-wide frame.

3. DIY Abounds

This pretty pallet bed frame by @stadshuisje is topped with a mattress and a neutral comforter. It perfectly coordinates with other DIY projects in this attractive bedroom, like the shelf on the wall above.

4. Modern Yet Playful

Ivy of @home.of.ivy gave these pallets a second life when she created a daybed for her son’s room. Outfitted with a gray cushion, this minimalist bed feels decidedly modern and sleek—but a mix of pillows in black, white, and gray prints make it feel playful and kid-friendly, too.

5. Industrial-Meets-Girly

This inviting pallet bed from Anh of Girl and the Word is the key furniture piece that ties up the whole boho-inspired look in this industrial loft. The bare wood of the pallet bed helps lend warmth to the mostly white room, and ties together the floral accent wall with the room’s exposed brick.

6. Twinkling Boho-Style Pallet Bed

Shefali of Go Boho Decor used string lights to illuminate the platform and headboard of her pallet bed—a functional nightlight that feels a little magical, too. Filled with lush plants, this bedroom feels almost like it’s in an enchanted forest.

7. Natural and Minimalist

This room from @inspiringliving puts natural materials in the spotlight, surrounding the raw wood pallet bed frame with other textures that include furry rugs and feathers for a minimalist vibe. The use of neutral linens keeps the room bright.

8. Colorful and Cheery

The natural tone of wood pallets feels modern and minimalist—a perfect way to showcase lots of colorful textiles, like Shefali of GoBoho Decor did here. Plants and flowers complete the fresh look.

9. Rustic With a Headboard

Vic from @our_home_in_kingstone shows the perfect way to give teens and tweens a room upgrade without breaking the bank. Here, a rustic pallet bed and headboard add a vintage industrial edge to an otherwise girly room. Bonus: The slats in the pallet bed are the perfect size to store pairs of shoes.

10. A Scandi-Style Pallet Daybed

In this Scandi-style daybed made by Laura and Kevin of @home.eighteen, there’s just a peek of the pallet’s exposed wood; the rest is covered by comfy cushions in a slate gray color, then piled high with cushions for optimal lounging.

11. Rustic and Minimalist

This bedroom proves that rustic style doesn’t just belong in an old cabin. Marta from @Home_m_ gave her pallet bed a unique look by rearranging its planks to fit together snugly. Next to the platform bed, she added a tree stump nightstand and tons of plants; black-and-white bedding and artwork add a dose of modern to the woodsy space.
