We've recently discussed the challenges of making friends and meeting neighbors, and last week I learned about a fun project happening in New York City called "On My Block". Founded by a group of friends who loved their neighborhoods but did not really know their neighbors, OMB is a film challenge that invites filmmakers of all levels to create short narrative or documentary videos on their block using only their block's residents as cast and crew. A few months back, on a foggy March afternoon, I was flipping through Sunset magazine when I discovered Teahouse Studio—an adorable little studio in Berkeley that is home to three innovative and creative female artists, as well as a workshop and a co-working space for Bay Area creative types (or anyone who loves tea, collaborative learning, and conversation).
