Some of us have a professed love for garden snooping while on vacation—which always sends us home with new ideas for our own garden. But we also like checking out the bigger places, too: urban farms, community gardens, and botanical gardens. And if you don't want to go so far as to tend the fields on your vacay, this is a great way to experience the local ecology. More
Try to imagine amazingly innovative and beautiful animation work for the likes of Bjork and Grizzly Bear coming out of a modern day version of The Shire, complete with 21st century Hobbit homes? Once you take a good look at Trout Gulch, it will all make perfect sense. More
This was such a cool and interesting idea. In an effort to help residents in the light-deprived slums of Manila, Philippines get light in their homes, project managers took empty plastic water bottles, filled them with water and a few teaspoons of bleach, and installed them through holes on the roof, with half sitting on the rooftop and exposed to the sun, and the other half hanging down into the living space. When I was younger, my mother kept a beautiful garden in the sloped front, reaching down to the well-traveled sidewalk.
