Name: Kenzie Francey (3.5)
Location: US
Rachelle is a cool hunter extraordinaire of all things stylishly kiddie. So naturally when it was time to design her own daughter Kenzie's room, it was going to be, well, cool. The result, with so much white and a number of references to snowy mountain tops, is a stylish, colorful, quirky room epitomizing a proverbial breath of fresh Swiss Alps air.

What was your inspiration for the room?
I am really inspired by Scandinavian design, so I wanted to create a space that reflected that look.
What is your favorite element in the room?
My favorite element in the room is the built-in desk. I saw a built-in desk that was recently featured in La Petite Magazine, and I knew I had to do that in Kenzie's room. I had a family friend come over and put it together.
Before starting, what did you know you wanted to include, for sure?
I knew I wanted to do one wall of wallpaper. I then spotted the Harlequin Wallpaper from Ferm Living, and fell in love!
What was your proudest DIY?
My proudest DIY has to be the hanging wood piece. I got a tree branch that I painted white, hung it up, then placed cute items on it. I love the way it turned out!

What was your biggest indulgence?
My biggest indulgence was the beautiful Kalon Studio's Echo Toddler Bed. I really love this simple piece, which makes such a huge statement in the room!
Any advice for other people starting this process?
I think these are great steps to take when decorating our childs space:
• Get inspiration by browsing the internet and bookmarking your favorite kid rooms
• Ask your child questions like what their favorite color is, items etc ...
• Only follow the trends if they work for you
• Do consider built-ins
If money was no object, what would your dream source be?
My dream source would be anything from Creme Anglaise.

mom, kenzie, and room are all so stinkin' cute! great tour!
Great room, love the wallpaper. Although it's a little too much white for me.
I want that bunny lamp.
Lovely!
this room makes me smile! i love the bright tape on the corners of all the prints!!! so fresh and bright, what a pretty room miss kenzie has :)
Adorable room! I wish I had a kid to design a room like this for (sigh.)
I love seeing inventive, interesting rooms for kids.
I am freaking out over every last detail. That bed is adorable. This is all perfect!!
I love the harlequin paper!
the wallpaper is my favorite part - it's soft and yet sophisticated - love it!
i like the clean lines and overall "smooth" feeling of the room. interesting to see a kid's room where color doesn't exactly dominate.
but can we have an update on how long it stays crispy, fresh & white with a little one living in it? i'd love to know!
Love this room! Ferm Living has a beautiful collection of wall papers.
how cute is that wink cloud!!!!
The bed is gorgeous, and it all looks lovely, but I assume the toys she actually plays with, that are not just deco that mommy picked for her room, are somewhere else? I also only see three books in the bookshelf...
I have to agree with velourcat. Where are the books? The play-able toys? This room is beautiful, but stark to the degree that it seems sad--like kenzie's fun has been exchanged for mommy's aesthetic. I'm all for beauty and simplicity, but I gravitate toward the spaces on Ohdeedoh that look more child-friendly.
Velourcat & Taylorcr... She has tons of books in her closet that are reachable that she reads all of the time and on the other side of the bookshelf on the other side of the room. She also has so many playable toys in a a toy bin in her closet. :) :) :) :)
I actually just registered so I could comment on this room. It is one of the best baby/kids rooms I've seen ever. Rachelle I think we're kindred design spirits! I get that Scandinavian awesome-ness isn't everyone's style (it's def. mine!), but why not design your kids room in a way that you love too? And what about this room is sad? The perfectly sized bed with adorable pillows? The awesome, amazingly designed, yellow rocker? The bunny light that she probably pats every night? The little desk made just to her size/height and filled with inspiring images? Just because she hasn't Disney Princessed/Fisher Priced the crap out of her kid's room doesn't mean it's 'sad.' I love every single thing about this room from the wallpaper and amazing white floors to the carefully selected keepsake items. I love that you picked lamps that are special and unique - things that she'll probably keep forever. Unlike the above comments I think it means something when a parent thinks carefully about their child's room and selects a few, well made, beautiful pieces that will potentially last a life time. I did the same for my daughter - she doesn't have a lot of stuff but what is in her nursery is beautiful and is hers for life (ie. a Marimekko bowl for her soothers, an Iittala Aalto vase for jewellery). Later in life she can use those things for whatever she wishes knowing that I carefully and lovingly selected those things for her. While I can't speak for Rachelle, I feel like that's what she's done here - the art she could frame and have in her room always, the mountain pouf (LOVE this!) would work as a footstool when she's a teen, the bunny lamps are kitsch enough to work in any room and are awesome for any aged child, etc. I think this is a beautiful, modern, thoughtful, well designed room - love it! Also - is the little cloud with raindrops on the desk from the Butter Flying on Etsy? Amazing, amazing room.
Waaaaahhhhh! Bunny lamp!
I really love this room!!
What KGIRl14 said. I don't know why people think that "more" equals better. In the case of Kenzie's room less is truly more.
I'll start with the negative and end with the positive. The photo with the hanging bulb was just that. I am not crazy about the look of the bed, but I do like the fun pillows. And, the end table is way overscaled for the bed-it is more than half the lenght of the bed. Also, I could not get a sense of the organization and placement of the items in the room. I think it's because the room may be small? In which case, a floorplan would have helped visualize the layout.
I thought the bunny nightlight is spectacular and quite unique. I loved the painted white floors and the built-in shelving-makes the room look more custom. The desk attached directly to the wall was smart. It opens up the floorplan.
I just love this room... awesome. amazing. fantastic
