Since then, a surprise to no one after taking this room tour, she has developed a true passion for interior design and styling. What might surprise you is that Eulalie’s nursery was an evolution, starting out as a simple gender neutral room with just the handmade crib (that was Claire’s as a baby!) and a couple of pieces of furniture.

So naturally when it was time to design her own daughter Kenzie’s room, it was going to be, well, cool. The result, with so much white and a number of references to snowy mountain tops, is a stylish, colorful, quirky room epitomizing a proverbial breath of fresh Swiss Alps air.

Before & After: Shared Room Goes From Cool To Hot
Imagine if you will, a room with some pretty bold stripes on a sloped ceiling and a standard IKEA bunk bed, both in cool shades. Some time later a big, bold, red carpet is added to the mix and suddenly it’s time for a makeover. Are you curious to see what they do with the stripes in the new and improved room?They kept them! Well, they kept the idea of them, they actually painted over them in hot hues that go with the new rug. And the IKEA bunk bed got a nice clean white wash.

Want to add some color to your bookcase but are a afraid of making a long term commitment? You can experiment with as bold a color you like with this simple, temporary foam board trick.That’s right. Foam board. Cut the foam board to fit in the back of the case and paint it any color you want. Hey, paint each side differently and switch it up twice a year if you like. If you have a bookcase with no back, even easier, tack the painted foam board to the whole backside.

She also knew that she didn’t want a typical boys’ room with tacky transportation themes or cartoon characters. Instead, she wanted something whimsical and colorful for her boys that they could really love and enjoy.
