One of our favorite entries into last year's Smaller Cooler Kids Contest on Ohdeedoh was this former Brooklyn knitting factory converted into a small nursery. Heather (mom) and Andy (dad) warmed up the industrial space with wood furnishings, pretty textiles, and lighting. If you're in a similar situation and you'd like to add some modern coziness to a stark space, here's a useful shopping list.

Organic Modern Crib

• A Natural Home: This company's warehouse is based in a historic building in Fredericktown, Ohio, where they ship out their organic, sustainable, and Amish baby furniture. They work with dealers across the country, including ABC Home and Ochre in New York.

Vintage Danish Modern Rocking Chair

• ebay: Heather's parents found the vintage rocker on eBay. To find your own version, search craiglist, eBay, and Etsy for "Frank Reenskaug Brahmin Danish Modern Rocker." Generally, prices range between $500 and $2,000, depending on the condition, the seller, and the regional market.

Shaker Side Table

• Shaker Workshops: Heather and Andy's tripod side table looks like a Shaker design. We found a similar piece, the New Lebanon Shaker Candle Stand, available through Shaker Workshops for $140 - $250 (the low price is for an assemble-it-yourself kit, and the high price is for an assembled version).

Contemporary Lighting

• IKEA: Heather and Andy's lighting looks like the popular IKEA Kulla lamp, a contemporary interpretation of Bauhaus style that's priced at $50. Theirs is a discontinued red version, but IKEA still sells the black and white models.

Striped Woven Rug

• Dash & Albert Rug Company by Annie Selke: We're not sure where Heather and Andy's rug came from, but Dash & Albert's online store is one of our go-to sources for affordable striped rugs. The woven cotton Blue Heron Stripe rug shown left is $28 to $385, depending on the size.

Hand-Dyed Pillows

• Etsy: It's always easy to find cool handmade pillows on Etsy, and it's also a good place to search for unique fabric to make your own pillow covers. We spotted these hand-dyed blue and white pillows at Etsy shop Ouno for $70.
