We love shopping Alessi for their happy modern products so we're excited to see that they've given their SoHo flagship a makeover. Behind the rather stately facade on Greene Street, the store is a long slice of space age modernity, a rather fitting venue for a brand known for modern design.
Alessi's flagship location has been at this Greene Street location since 2007. To give it a little refresh Alessi invited back Hani Rashid, who designed the store's previous iteration, and Asymptote Studio. Following a two month renovation, they new shop is a space age emporium for Alessi's collection of modern wares. In fact, the entire store reminds me of something from a space ship – as if you might bump into Mr. Spock browsing the products. The front of the store (second photo), with its long blue counter/cash stand and blue and white patterned wall, is perfectly homey. But that view of the back of the store (third photo), with its long corridor and stripes of recessed lighting, is giving me shades of Star Trek!
