Vintage & modern New England style
($$) Mid-Range - ($$$) High-End
It's been awhile since we first visited the charming boutique Acquire in Boston's North End. When I checked in a few days ago, there was a nouveau nautical vibe that felt just so right. Pewter octopi and subtle seagull-patterned pillows mix easily with industrial stools and vintage typewriters.
One of few design islands in a neighborhood that's primarily about food and tourists, it would be easy to overlook the small shop. Those who stop in will be rewarded, not with the kitschy lobsters and bean-themed memorabilia found in nearby Quincy Market, but with a piece of the real New England. Sturdy bags showcase the beauty in function, while light, patterned scarves are perfect for protection from the sea breeze. If you're a fan of putting a sea creature on it, there's burlap doorstops with whales, glassware with jellyfish, and even a statuesque crab.
