Robbie and Angie Cook
It all began with a reclaimed door and a bottle of wine ..and of course a doorknob. One evening we were sitting around with some friends with a selection of vintage doorknobs trying to decide the best choice for our new "old" door ...when out of the blue Robbie picks up a doorknob and places it on top of the wine "this would make a great wine stopper" well .......
A year later after developing a marketing package and finalizing the design we headed to Atlanta to introduce our new product. ...and the rest you could say is history! That was almost 4 years ago.
Another gem of this year's gift fair was Cake, an independent company based out of Nashville, TN. With their adorable booth filled with rustic home goods fashioned out of vintage materials, one couldn't help but stop and chat with these friendly southerners.
Started by Robbie and Angie Cook, and born out of the simple idea to make vintage doorknobs into wine stoppers, Cake Vintage has since grown into a charming Tennessee based design house that specializes in repurposing old objects, making them into something more beautiful and useful.
Cake Vintage’s collection includes paper goods for the kitchen, wall hooks, candlesticks and a lighting line that consists of chandeliers and pendant lights made out of silver spoons, key holes and telegraph lamps.
