Handcrafted gadget cases made of leather and felted wool
monie.ka & James
monie.ka and James didn’t really have a plan when they started their company back in 2006. But in 2007, when they put their first laptop sleeve up for sale online, and someone from the US bought it, the momentum from that first sale told them that they were onto something. They quit their jobs in advertising and fashion, re-invested the money from their sale into production of the next, and so on. For three years they have personally handmade each piece themselves. Eventually, after months of searching, they found craftsmen in Italy and Austria to help them with production. However, they still pack every order in-house – saying, “it’s honest, direct and 100% hands on.”
Hard graft is an old English term meaning real hard work. It's a term that describes both the amount of effort put into the company by founders monie.ka and James, and what you can expect to get out of each one of their suberbly crafted products.
English and Austrian, the designers behind Hard Graft are intensely passionate about what they do. They started their company small, have grown organically, and have selected a team of meticulous craftsman in Italy and Austria to help them produce pieces that are, "honest, direct and 100% hands on." Using naturally-milled Italian leather, premium Italian suede, and 100% wool felt, monie.ka and James have created a line of gadget cases, travel bags and wallets that not only look good, but have been intuitievely designed to be the most useful piece of their type that you'll ever own. Are they pricey? Yes. But this is one of those times when the old adage "you get what you pay for" truly applies.
Currently, Hard Graft products are only available online. Although, the company soon plans to make them available at select outlets worldwide.
