Originally from the UK, Caroline had recently moved to San Diego when she decided to start Ink Dish. As much as she loved the dinnerware design business, Caroline was "feeling a little creatively stifled by years and years of painting flowers and butterflies and at the same time we were incredibly inspired by the contemporary artists we were seeing in the US." Caroline was sure there was a more imaginative approach to dinnerware decoration and so, with just a little capital, started working with tattoo artist Paul Timman. Following the success of that first line, Ink Dish now works with Austin artist Alyson Fox, Cleveland artist Dana Oldfather, and LA artist David Palmer.

Shaw's Original Fir...
If its Chinese made dinnerware that is simply painted in America then I'll pass and stick with super durable American made Corelle.
Hi jdoey Ink Dish here. It's made in Bangladesh, sadly there are very few ceramics companies still operating in the US that we could work with. Corelle outsource a lot overseas now too unless they are able use their glass factory but that limits them technically and we wouldn't have been able to produce the patterns that we wanted that way. I am a bit fan of Corelle myself and have worked with them for many years.
I love some of the designs, but I find I want plain dinnerware that I can accent with fancier serving dishes or whatever -- too much detail on the dishes and I get tired of them fast, plus I think it detracts from the food.
I could maybe see soup bowls and/or mugs to go with other dishes, though...
All the Corelle dinnerware that you typically see in stores is American made and marked that way.
Thanks for the reply.
