Products from Flagship agency's brands--including Geneva, Hex, and Weekend Offender--are available for sale under one roof, for one month only.
To celebrate its launch, fashion and design marketing agency Flagship put together a pop-up shop that brings together products from many of the brands it represents. Named for the old Chinatown theater building the shop resides inside, Kim Sing Trading Company pop-up showcases European street wear lines like Weekend Offender, and quirky furniture design houses like RS Barcelona, but the short-run shop seems to mostly showcase Flagship's designer tech brands.
These include perennial design+tech favorite, Geneva Sound Systems, leather and textile bag and case maker Hex, and laser engraved wood accessory company Piel. Products from these guys aren't easy to find in brick-and-mortar shops, so eastsider Angelenos should stop by to see, feel, and even smell these stylish tech-cessories before the shop closes at the beginning of May. We spoke with one of Flagship's partners (Willard Ford, son of Harrison) at the opening.
Name/Title: Willard Ford, Partner at Flagship. The other two partners are Andrea Ching and Chris Josol.
Open date: April 4, 2013; set to close after one month
Inspiration for opening: We already owned the Kim Sing Theater building (a former vaudeville house and movie theater built in 1926), and we had just brought together these three different marketing channels into one agency.
Merchandise source: We picked the best examples of each of the brands we work with. Many of them have done retail pop-ups before. It makes sense because often this stuff is only available online.
Best-selling items: In dollars, one of the best selling products is this furniture line from RS Barcelona that includes a beautiful foosball table—the wooden "futbolin" designed by Rafael Rodriguez can be ordered with male or female player figurines.
Your favorite item: The Geneva WorldRadio you see on display here is mine. It also comes in black and silver.
Your favorite store: Future Perfect in NYC, A + R in Los Angeles, Teton Mountaineering in Jackson, Wyoming.
