Known for its original colorful graphic textiles since 1951, when Marimekko first showed their cheerful prints in Helsinski, the company was an instant hit. For years only available in capsule collections or in Europe and Scandinavia, New York City finally has its own flagship store that is a welcome dose of color therapy. Now that the company has expanded beyond clothes, the items that fill the store are a wide range of things for the home, from trays to mugs, pillows, bedspreads, dishes and decor. Tablecloths and pillows can be bought as is, or fabric can be purchased by the yard from the floor to ceiling selection and cut by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Located across from the Flat Iron building in Manhattan, if you live in New York or are just visiting, it is well worth checking out some of the most cheerful and bright things this Finnish company has to offer.
