Mohawk General Store- Amsterdam Modern has connected the dots between music, furniture, clothing, shoes, printed matter and art — all under one roof! Store owner Kevin Carney and his wife Bo, just relocated their mercantile from Mohawk Street in Echo Park, to the creative hub of Sunset Junction. They have created an impressive collective of retro mid century furniture while also displaying an array of records, lighting, vintage electronics and audio equipment.
Kevin and Bo partnered with Ellen LeComte of Amsterdam Modern, together sourcing vintage furniture, lighting and objects that originate from Holland, Denmark and France to accompany the fashion assortment from known designers such as Rachel Comey, Gitman Bros. Vintage, Our Legacy, A.P.C, Comme De Garcons, Generic Man and Generic Surplus, as well as local talent such as Clare Vivier, Raquel Allegra, Jasmine Shokrian, Industry of All Nations, Kathryn Bentley, and Black Crane.
It's no surprise how cozy and inviting their store feels, as Kevin explains that they chose Sunset Junction over other trendy shopping districts such as Los Feliz's Vermont Street, or West Hollywood. "This is our neighborhood...our friends and family mostly live east of Hollywood. It is our comfort zone and we feel it is a very creative area so that will translate to the right people passing by the shop."
