It's not a coincidence that most of our favorite designers of furniture for children and families are parents themselves. In addition to a keen design eye, life with four children has taught Ralph and Michelle Montemurro of Monte Design what modern parents want - "comfortable, functional and design-driven products."

We've been eying the Cubino chair (also available as a loveseat) for our own home because we appreciate how the friendly, colorful seat is balanced out by the neutral body so it won't stick out like a sore thumb among our adult furniture.

The Ninna Nanna bassinet is one we've long admired not just for its sleek look but for its versatility - being able to remove the top basket portion is a smart feature and the piece has a mature enough look that we could imagine using it for storage (stuffed animals especially) long after our baby had moved on to a crib or other sleeping arrangement.

We hear from parents all the time how hard it is to find an attractive rocker or glider for nursing, cuddling and reading. While we know they're not in everyone's budget we always point to Monte Design's five gliders/rockers as a terrific option - all have clean, modern lines for use anywhere in the home and need not be relegated just to the nursery.

If you'd like to see how Monte Design Group's products can integrate into a family home - look no further than Ralph and Michelle's own home which Apartment Therapy Chicago was lucky enough to profile.
