Holly and Sophie were originally inspired to start the site because they share a love of quirky items that can be found at art fairs and small boutiques. They wanted to bring that passion to a wider audience and thus Not on the High Street was born.
Originally starting with about 100 hand-picked British businesses, Not on the High Street now works with over 3,000 sellers. With most of the items coming from small and independent designers, Not on the High Street is kind of like etsy ... but with a better curatorial eye.

I do love this shop, even though it can be pricey. They sell lovely things that you instantly NEED when you see it lol
It's the best place ever to find thoughtful presents, and if you're a design lover you'll find yourself lost down the rabbit hole for hours on this site. I just blogged about the cutest and most stylish bookends available and three out of four of them are from Not On The High St! http://homefluffyhome.blog.com/2012/11/13/best-ever-bookends/
I realize this is probably age but I'm very nostalgic about vinyl records so I cringe when I see them upcycle. Yes, better than the land fill but still...my heart just remembers.
forgot to say..that both the maid wall art and the pig salt cellar are just way too cute.
Me and my beige personality are wondering why we LOVE that crazy chair so much !!
You should have featured this, my absolute favourite... http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/cuttingedgeframes/product/personalised-family-tree-paper-cut-large
