- Founded: 2006
Omoi opened in 2006, just off the Rittenhouse neighborhood in Philadelphia. Our name comes from a Japanese word (??) meaning “thoughts and ideas,” which is also nuanced with feelings of hope and sincerity. Pronounced like “oh boy,” we label ourselves a “zakka” shop—a mainstay type of store in Japanese retail culture, which tends to be small in size, yet is packed with well-curated treasures you can’t imagine living without.
