Rachel Berks and Marisa Suarez-Orozco
The name evokes both a place and a state of mind, and so goes the same for the newly opened hybrid shop tucked in the verdant hills of Echo Park (owners Rachel Berks and Marisa Suarez-Orozco also operate a graphic design business from within) where a curated selection of home, fashion, and personal wares span from the roughly hewn to precisely fashioned, natural to neon, worn to polished. Like the name implies, the diversity of color, pattern, and texture is wildly "other"...and wonderful.
Name/Title: Rachel Berks + Marisa Suarez-Orozco/Owners
Open/launch date: June 28, 2012, reopened in Echo Park this March 1, 2013
Inspiration for opening: As two graphic designers deeply immersed in the fine art community, we were inspired by the multidisciplinary talent which surrounded us.
We were interested in creating a venue which merged the fine and applied arts.
Merchandise source: Our vibrant and talented community of jewelers, ceramicists, perfumers, artists, designers, herbalists, quilters, fabricators, musicians, witches, picklers, woodworkers, curators, photographers, dancers and publishers. And some others we've met along the way...

Your favorite item: YACHT's "Shangri-La" Neon SIgn, Stefanie Berks's Queer Lit pillows, Anna Sew Hoy soap dishes, Salt + Earth ceramic shells.
