Woodland creatures rendered in black and gold are not just signatures of PATCH NYC's Shops at Target collection — it's a regular theme for partners Don Carney & John Ross, who have a charming courtyard shop and studio filled with their signature artwork, décor, and accessory collections that mix nature and travel with a touch of the macabre.

Accomplished artists, their walls are lined with Don's detailed ink renderings and chevron prints, as well as John's floaty calligraphy and collage. Don's ink and John's calligraphy also adorn their scent line that includes candles and solid fragrances in captivating varieties like Pipe (vanilla, bourbon, cognac, tobacco and patchouli) and Skull (black tea, anise, basil and citrus).

Skulls aren't just for scents, either. From large brass objets to pillows and porcelain plates, there's no bones about their love of the cerebral. Their shop feels part Victorian curiosity shop, part modern boutique. The ornate fireplace adds to the atmosphere, whether it's displaying brightly colored glass, or cute piggybanks.

If you're in Boston's South End, make sure to duck down the alley to PATCH NYC's tucked-away courtyard — you won't be disappointed.
