Plow & Hearth is known for being a reliable national retailer of all things home and garden for the last 30 years. The company specializes in unique, long-lasting products for the home, deck, garden, and even pets.

We think of Plow & Hearth as a marriage of Land's End all-American aesthetic and Brookstone's practical gadgetry. Though most of their business is catalog and internet shopping, they do have a few store fronts in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. Plow & Hearth prides itself on providing a high level of custom service based on honesty and integrity. They offer a 100% guarantee on everything, without condition. Additionally, the company strives to carry products that are not only affordable and durable, but sustainable with eco-friendly attributes.

We discovered that the website offered a much wider range of goods than we expected, based on our previous shopping experience at a store in Virginia. The home décor items are more traditional, but there are many classic pieces that would blend with any style. The garden and outdoor section of the website is brimming with useful things that we never knew existed but just might come in handy, like this garage door screen.

Here are a few of our favorite products to give readers a shopping sample (pictured on previous page, clockwise from left):
1. Retro light bulb solar lights with rechargeable batteries and solar panel.
2. Colorful metal flower tubes, exclusive to Plow & Hearth.
3. Hammock swing chair with pillows is the best seat in the yard.
4. Vibrant outdoor toss pillows add color to the porch.

Last but not least, this is perfect for small space dwellers. The vertical patio garden takes up only 25 square inches of porch space and supports 80 lbs. of topsoil for growing lettuce, herbs or peppers. The raised platform and center column allows tomato vines to grow downward, avoiding rot and insects. For readers with a bit more space to spare for a garden, Plow & Hearth also sells easy peasy raised bed kits.
