Seed Furniture is an appropriate name for Reeve Schley's designs. Schley intends his furniture to grow with you and to make that happen the pieces can adapt over time. There's also a certain whimsy in his furniture. I mean, just look at that puzzle inspired armoire!

Name/Title: Reeve Schley

Launch date: February of 2013

Inspiration for opening: Seed Furniture’s mission is to create timeless designs that last a lifetime and remain functionally relevant.  All of our pieces re-purpose and evolve to meet the changing lives of modern people. As your child grows, slide off our changing table and add an armoire to house an ever-growing wardrobe. Or move the bureau to the living room — change the doors — and add a bar top. Seed Furniture changes as your life changes.

Merchandise source: Besides our drawer slides and hinges, all of our furniture is handmade in our Downtown Los Angeles workshop.

Best selling item: Our best selling items are our Walnut Loft Dresser and our Barnyard Dresser, each of which offer a stunning contrast of painted wood to natural wood. Both designs are offered with six drawers, or with three drawers and two doors, which allows clothing to be stacked and easily seen. Functionality is key for a piece that should last a lifetime.

Your favorite item: My favorite item is the Queen Mary Bar, which offers the elegance and ethos of a bygone era while conforming to the constraints of contemporary living spaces. The bar repurposes into a bureau or armoire and is a modern version of the captain’s bar aboard the Queen Mary.

Favorite store (other than your own): I love Lawson-Fenning in Silver Lake CA. They do a great job of marrying vintage and modern styles in quality pieces with affordable prices.
