Furniture handcrafted by craftsmen in Vermont
($$) Mid-Range - ($$$) High-End
Green and local are not new ideas at Vermont Woods Studios. They are part of our ethos. We were born green with a mission of building a vibrant economy for furniture makers in Vermont. From the beginning, we’ve only worked with Vermont artisans and companies who use sustainably harvested wood and non-toxic finishes. Join us and feel good, not only about the quality of the furniture that you buy, but also about its impact on the world around us.
We mentioned Vermont Woods Studios in our Weekend Shoppers Guide focusing on handcrafted furniture and now we'd like to circle back for a store profile on them…
Vermont has a long history of furniture makers but in this age of flat pack furniture and big box retailers, much of that expertise has been relegated to the past. Vermont Woods Studios works to bring the legacy of Vermont's furniture craftsmen into the 21st century.
Since 2005 Vermont Woods Studios has worked with Vermont artisans to offer furniture that is handcrafted from sustainably harvested wood and non-toxic finishes. By working with independent artisans, Vermont Woods is able to provide exposure to folks who might otherwise have difficulty marketing their work.
Lest you think that furniture designed by Vermont artisans will be mostly traditional, Vermont Woods offers styles that range from Mission to modern. And in addition to their indoor furniture, they also offer outdoor furniture made from recycled plastic lumber.
In addition to their online store, the Stonehurst showroom sits on 100 acres of meadows and woodland — a nice nod to their emphasis on naturally sourced materials.
