Walter G was founded in early 2011 by two childhood friends who were inspired by the creative use of color and patterns found in Indian textiles. They design an eclectic range of high end, handprinted textiles and furniture responsibly made in India and Australia. From the company's website:
Lauren and Genevieve were initially struck by the lack of colour in the everyday lives of people living in Australia and the Western world in general. They attributed this to individuals' diminished sense of familiarity and confidence to engage with intricate and brightly coloured pieces. Working with the skilled hand dyers, block printers and weavers of India, Walter G aims to foster a movement that reintroduces colour and pattern to western consumers by using everyday objects as a conduit.
Walter G's current collection includes cushions, fabrics, lamps and shades, and seating. Product descriptions includes information about the materials they use, whether vintage or responsibly made, and the artisans who made them.
