for the price (cheap) i have always enjoyed AeroBed mattresses. my $90 from QVC has lasted the past 7 years without a hiccup or complaint.
I do not endorse any air mattress with a built-in pump. Invariably, they fail at the seal around the pump. I learned this the hard way.
You're much better off getting a Coleman double-high mattress (I have one in Queen), with a seperate pump. It stays inflated quite well over multiple days' use, indoor or outdoor; and rolls up into a snug 2' x 1' diameter log for storage.
I think I have the same double high queen from coleman as @Dragynphyre. My guests seem to appreciate it rather than sleeping on the couch.
Air pumps can burn out, too, so having one installed directly into the bed seems a bit sketchy to me, too.
That Serta Pillow Top one seems nice, I wonder how small it folds down to?
I have the aerobed with a headboard. It is awesome and folds down neatly.
Did the reviewer try these beds? It'd be nice to see a review based on comfort, like the mattress reviews from last year.
these are all ginormous. when my sister came to visit after our baby was born, she sent ahead a deluxe thermarest from rei. it's very comfortable and packs light. we keep it semi-inflated behind our bed.
The first one has a headboard. My real bed doesn't even have one of those...
I would *highly* recommend buying an air mattress from Costco, if that's an option for you. I bought an Aerobed there, and after it developed a leak on a seam (which seemed to me like a defect and not something we could have prevented), I was able to return it- no questions asked!- a YEAR later. Gotta love that return policy!
Question: does anyone know how to find the source of a slow leak in an air mattress? Our raised queen-size bed was wonderful until it started leaking. And we're just over a year into owning it. :( It cost half as much as the other beds I looked at, so I suppose I got what I deserved!
@Amberm
I owned an Aerobed in the past and the only way I was able to determine where the leaks were was to submerge portions of the bed in a tub of water. I determined that I had not one, but multiple leaks. Aerobad gladly exchanged the bed for a new one even though it was more than a year old. When the second bed developed leaks within one year, I decided not to bother with requesting a replacement. It was hell on my back to go to sleep on a full air bed and wake up in a semi deflated one. My butt would be on the floor and my feet were higher up.
I purchased a no name air bed from Modells on sale for $59. I've had it for the past 3 years and have not had one problem with it.
I have a generic twin sized airbed from Argos with the attached electrical pump. Had it for 4 years now and never had an issue...it was about £40 if I remember correctly. Best purchase ever.
I just got an INCREDIBLY CHEAP air mattress that has been working out great so far. I threw away the packaging so I can't tell the brand, but my parents bought it at an Aldi store (who knew?) for only $27.
Haha DGLondon, I also have a generic Argos mattress that has outlasted all my fancy name brand ones. And it's just as comfortable!
Regarding identifying a leak: do like plumbers do w/gas lines - use a brush w/a little soap solution (detergent/water, soap/water - whatever) and paint it along seams, etc. The leaks will bubble up... and it's easier than dunking your bed in the tub. :-)
I LOVE my Intex Deluxe Pillow Rest Rising comfort bed. I have been sleeping on it nightly for almost 8 months now and have slept better on that than my regular bed. It is self inflatable, so I'm not sure about the leak issue since I'd don't deflate/reinflate it. However, it was less than $50.00 so I'm not complaining.
air mattresses are better than typical memory foam mattresses.
Absolutely good picks! All of those mattress choices are really good for comfortable and relaxing. I'm using air mattresses since long time and really enjoy sleeping. Thanks.

A great air mattress is the Wenzel Insta-Bed
It comes with a built in pump
