This past month we welcomed a great number of exciting new eco-friendly shops into our Marketplace. From independent artisans to environmentally-conscious home goods dealers, check out these ten wonderful green stores from coast-to-coast.

Northeast

• Forestbound: From Boston comes this inventive designer of salvaged bags. Using vintage canvas, leather, and hardware to create her line of durable totes and bags, founder Alice Saunders is never ending in her hunt for the best reclaimed pieces in New England.
• Twelve Chairs: Owners Roisin Giese and Miggy Mason named this home goods store after their guiding principle—to only chooses products that fit 6 of their 12 People and Planet Principles. Of these, importance is placed on items that are locally sourced, organic, biodegradable, renewable and with a focus on fair-trade policies.

Southeast

• Homeless Design Lab: This small design collective operates near Fort Lauderdale, FL and has a knack for turning old, discarded furniture in to bright and spiffy new pieces, often using rich upholstery fabrics and intricate hand painted finishes.
• Sara Lee Parker: Specializing in Eco-friendly handmade napkins, pillow covers, tea towels, and fabric yardage, designer Sara Lee Parker works out of her Georgia based studio to create these solvent-free, eco-friendly textiles.

Southwest

• SLIC Interiors: Specializing in giving new life to old furniture pieces, this Austin-based service restores vintage chairs even beyond their original conditions, creating modern and dramatic chairs, benches and more.
• Unearthed Paints: This eco-friendly paint company operates out of Louisville, Colorado and specializes in natural paints made out of earth and mineral pigments, clay, marble, lime, and chalk.

West Coast

• Floral Art: LA-based Jennifer McGarigle runs this floral studio and also specializes in creating colorful furniture and accessories, all inspired by her love of flowers. Floral arrangement classes are also available.
• Gorgeous and Green: From Berkley, CA comes this sweet floral shop with beautiful, locally-sourced flowers and other goods. With a well-styled inventory of letterpress greeting cards, tiny terrariums and natural skin products, this shop is one of those you can’t just walk by without stopping in to see what’s new.
• Willow Ship: This San Francisco-based designer creates lovely, hand printed linens for the tabletop and other home accessories. We love her bright, geometric design schemes and all items are sewn by hand.

Midwest

• Art and Architecture: From Minneapolis, MN comes this salvaged hardware company. Search their store for antique lighting fixtures, hardware, mantles, windows and other architectural items and more.
