Chic, Small Home Office: Get the Look

If you haven't yet seen Rebecca Orlov's home office on Unplggd, take a moment to check it out. It's a beautiful example of how a small space can be made into a multi-functional home office, complete with artwork and accessories that personalize the place.

Office Furniture

IKEA: Rebecca's office furniture is all white, a good choice for a small office since it keeps things cohesive and lightens the room. Much of her furniture is from IKEA, including a sawhorse desk (no longer available), Ribba picture gallery ledges, $15, Billy Bookcase, $35, and Lack Wall Shelf Unit (shown left), $50.
Target: For some pattern, Rebecca added a floral office chair ($99) from Target's Liberty of London collection. (They also carry Liberty of London home accessories if you're looking for more places to add pattern.) She also uses a West Elm floor cushion for back support.
Thrift Stores: Across from the desk (not shown in the photo above) are two Danish modern chairs that Rebecca scored at Pepe's Thrifty Shop. Similar side chairs are common secondhand finds — for a guide to our favorite thrift shops, click here.

Accessories

Weego Home: Rebecca's Ghost Clock, a modern reinterpretation of a traditional carriage clock, came from Weego Home in Los Angeles, a good source for out-of-the-ordinary accessories. You can also find it at A + R, the MOMA Store, and other shops for around $150.
Slipcover Your Life: Rebecca special-ordered a needlepoint piece that hangs in her office and says, "loving living small." The artwork came from Etsy shop Slipcover Your Life, aka needlepointer Erin, who sells readymade and commission pieces online.
Paper Pastries: You can order city pencil sets ($10) or other out-of-the ordinary office supplies from this web shop, which specializes in stationery and paper goods. (It never hurts to keep a stack of well-designed cards on hand for thank-you notes).

Lighting and Rugs

Pearl River Mart: Rebecca's chandelier came from Soho shop Pearl River Mart, a good resource for inexpensive lanterns. They have a limited selection of lighting online, including the Fisherman's Hanging Lamp (shown left) currently on sale for $64.
World Market: A floral rug from World Market adds color and texture to the office. They always have inexpensive rugs in stock — shown left is the Kimono Print Micro Jute Rug for $50. If you need a larger size and don't want to spend a lot, you can also try layering a couple of rugs together.

Hardware

Apple: Most of Rebecca's hardware comes from the Apple Store: a 21.5" Apple iMac, Apple Magic Mouse, and Apple Wireless Keyboard. The iMac's streamlined design works well in a small space, and it helps to have a keyboard that you can position wherever you need it.
Samsung: Rebecca has a combination printer/scanner from Samsung. You can find wireless ones from a few different retailers — including Canon and Epson — at the Apple Store. This is the Samsung SCX 45-W Wireless Printer/Scanner for $250.
