Bringing cutting edge artists to dishware
Caroline Harding was born into the dinnerware design industry. Her mother started off designing in Staffordshire and Limoges and, after graduating from art school, Caroline decided to join her in the ceramic design business as well. Four years ago Caroline started Ink Dish with a collaboration with tattoo artist Paul Timman. Since then Ink Dish has added more artists to their roster of designers. Originally from the UK, Caroline had recently moved to San Diego when she decided to start Ink Dish. As much as she loved the dinnerware design business, Caroline was "feeling a little creatively stifled by years and years of painting flowers and butterflies and at the same time we were incredibly inspired by the contemporary artists we were seeing in the US." Caroline was sure there was a more imaginative approach to dinnerware decoration and so, with just a little capital, started working with tattoo artist Paul Timman. Following the success of that first line, Ink Dish now works with Austin artist Alyson Fox, Cleveland artist Dana Oldfather, and LA artist David Palmer.
